Final to screen at Town Hall

Fans wanting to catch the Highlanders' Super rugby final against the Hurricanes on Saturday night can watch the game live at the Dunedin Town Hall.

Doors for the free screening will open at 5.30pm, with the action starting in Wellington at 7.35pm.

Dunedin City Council community events co-ordinator Marilyn Anderson said the alcohol-free event was an opportunity for fans to get together and back the Highlanders as they attempt to win a maiden Super rugby title.

''Come dressed in your blue and gold, grab some snacks, bring your picnic blanket, deck chair or bean bag, get your face painted and support your home team,'' she said.

The Highlanders have beaten the Hurricanes the past four times the teams have met in Wellington, and neither side has won the competition.

Regardless if the Highlanders return with the trophy or not, the squad will fly into Dunedin Airport at 10.50am on Sunday.

The King's and Queen's High School kapa haka group will welcome them at the airport. Fans wishing to greet the squad

can get free parking at the airport by collecting a ticket at its customer services desk.
