Strict infection control precautions are in place in Dunedin Hospital as a ward is gripped by influenza.
Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora Southern group director of operations Hamish Brown said there were currently six patients who had tested positive for Influenza A on the hospital’s surgical ward.

‘‘All patients are being tested and strict infection control precautions are in place including isolation,’’ he said.

‘‘Please do not visit your loved ones in hospital if you are currently unwell with signs and symptoms of a respiratory illness.

‘‘All visitors must wear masks and practice good hand hygiene.’’

HNZ Southern encouraged people to get a flu vaccine, he said.
