More witnesses sought to 'cowardly' Warrington attack

Witnesses to the attack on an elderly couple in a camper van at the Warrington Domain are being sought by Dunedin police.

The couple, from Mosgiel, were sleeping in their van when a group of young people set upon it about 1am on May 16.

Several windows were broken, panels dented and doors buckled and twisted. A can and a bottle were thrown into the van.

Sergeant Sheldon Kindley said police had some positive leads but were still seeking witnesses.

"A number of people were present who thought this behaviour was cowardly. These people weren't part of the small group which committed the attack. We'd like to hear from these people."

People with information should contact Constable Allen Wilson at Dunedin Central Police Station.
