Prostate cancer meeting

Recent prostate cancer research will be among the topics discussed at the Prostate Cancer Foundation's annual conference in Dunedin this weekend.

Chief executive Keith Beck said about 50 men, from Kaitaia to Invercargill, were expected to attend.

This year the foundation had given $250,000 to prostate cancer research and spent a further $175,000 educating people about the disease and supporting men and their families where prostate cancer has been diagnosed or treated.

Another hot topic for discussion will be the National Health Committee report released this week on early detection and treatment of prostate cancer.

Nutrition and prostate cancer, men's health policies and health records are also on the agenda for the two-day meeting, which ends on Sunday.
