Ajyah Murdoch, 11, displays some of the sunflower seeds on offer at the seed swap at the Harvest Festival in North East Valley yesterday.

The event was held at the North East Valley Normal School and had multiple events and stalls.

Community Fruit Harvest Ōtepoti co-ordinator Karena Garrat said the day had been a success and roughly 200 people showed up to take part.

Ms Garrat was extremely pleased the weather "decided to co-operate" and they were able to hold many activities and stalls outdoors.

At 12.30pm, the results of the coveted Dunedin Best home-made jam contest were announced, with a savoury peach chutney and a sweet spiced plum chutney being voted the public’s joint favourite.

Other highlights included on-the-spot fresh apple juice, made with an apple press, a vinegar-making class and a fermenting workshop.
