Two arrested after Dunedin home invasion

Police have arrested two Dunedin men after a man was shot during a home invasion.

The men, aged 24 and 36, have been charged with aggravated robbery after a Maitland St resident was shot with a .22 calibre rifle in his home on July 2.

Sergeant Steve Aitken said they were due to appear in the Dunedin District Court today.

Police arrested the pair last night.

It is alleged one of the men shot the Maitland St resident and the pair stole a watch and other possessions from the address.

Emergency services were called to the house about 11.30pm after reports of the shooting.

Sgt Aitken said further charges were likely.
