Police have charged a man who was shot by officers after allegedly aiming a gun at them during a pursuit in Motueka on August 20.
Ford William Hurinui, 27, will face a raft of charges in relation to the incident - as well as a second incident in June - at Hutt Valley District Court on Thursday.
Hurinui was wanted by police for breaching his parole conditions in August.
He was seen driving in Motueka, near Nelson, on August 20 and failed to stop for police.
A short pursuit ended on no-exit Wharepapa Grove where police allege Hurinui got out and aimed a gun at officers, who attempted to negotiate with him.
He then attempted to flee on foot, but was pursued by police, and again aimed a gun at police, police say.
He was shot by police and taken to Wellington Hospital in a critical condition.
Hurinui has been in Rimutaka Prison since his release from hospital.
Police have charged him with using a firearm against police, unlawful possession of a firearm, breaching protection orders, aggravated burglary and injuring with intent to injure.
