Two moderate earthquakes have rocked New Zealand this morning.
The first was detected by GeoNet at 7.17am between Taumarunui and Lake Taupo.
It was centred 10km deep with a magnitude of 3.4.
Its Mercalli Intensity - how strongly it was felt on the surface - was five.
Five minutes later, a similar tremor was detected 30km north of Kaikoura.
It was 4.5km deep with a magnitude of 4.5 and a Mercalli Intensity of five.
