Need a bit of colour in your life? The annual Gypsy Fair, with its colourful streamers and flags, rolls into town this weekend.

The fair has been travelling throughout New Zealand for over 30 years.

North Otago people can see it at the Friendly Bay reserve.

The event is free and promises lots of fun, especially for families.

Last year there were over a dozen stalls as well as inflatables, face-painting and live music throughout the event.

The stage manager runs an open mic for people wanting to come along to provide some entertainment and encourages people to come and experience the "wonderful lifestyle" with the travelling stall holders.

This year event organisers will be bringing an expansive range of hand-made products, market stalls, arts and crafts and food and entertainment.

The Gypsy Fair will be open from 9am to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
