Big-name golfers lining up

Some of the top golfers in New Zealand will be on display in Queenstown this weekend during a new pro-am.

The Cello Invitational, the final event on the NZ Order of Merit calendar, is being played across 36 holes at Millbrook Resort, near Arrowtown, and Jack’s Point, this Sunday and Monday.

Dubbed the ‘premium PGA pro-am in NZ’, the pros and amateurs will play the tourney in a 2BBB stableford pairs event over Millbrook’s Coronet course, on Sunday, and at Jack’s Point, on Monday.

Pros include eight golfers fresh off the Australian PGA and Australian Open, two former NZ Open winners, three Asian Tour winners, one PGA China Tour three-time winner, a China Tour winner and two Australasian Tour winners.

The event, including an auction during Sunday night’s gala dinner at which a trip for two to the US Masters in 2025 will go under the hammer, is raising money for Plunket NZ — organisers hope to raise $50,000 over the weekend.
