One dead in ATV incident near Waimate

A person is dead after an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) incident near Waimate yesterday evening.

Police said they were called to Bridge Rd, Waihao Downs, shortly after 8pm.

“A male was located on the property, and sadly died at the scene.” 

The exact circumstances of the accident have not yet been confirmed, except that it appeared the quad bike had rolled, and no other vehicles were involved, police said.

The Serious Crash Unit has been notified and the death will be referred to the Coroner.
