Cricket: Otago take Twenty20 lead despite washout

Otago reclaimed the lead in the domestic Twenty20 cricket competition without a ball being bowled in their match against Wellington today.

Rain in Wellington saw the seventh round match at the Basin Reserve abandoned.

It was Otago's second no-result of the season, and drew them level on 20 points with Central Districts although the southerners lead on superior net run rate.

Meanwhile, Wellington's forgettable season continued, with just a solitary win and eight competition points, four clear of bottom-placed Canterbury.
