Another big task awaits the Dunedin City Royals tomorrow.

They found some form last week and fought for a 4-4 draw against Ferrymead Bays to gain their first point of the Southern League season.

But they will be tested against the league’s only unbeaten team, Christchurch United, away this weekend.

Christchurch United beat ninth-placed University of Canterbury 4-3 in round three after conceding two late goals.

The Royals have let goals slip through in the opening five minutes in their past two games and will be keen to stop that from happening again.

Mosgiel v Wanaka shapes as the game of the round in the ODT men’s southern premiership.

Both teams have the same record, one win and a draw to start the season, and have looked commanding in the opening rounds.

They had vastly different weekends, though.

Mosgiel thumped Green Island 9-0 — striker Rhys Quarrell scored a hat-trick — while Wanaka had a tense 3-3 draw with Roslyn-Wakari.

Northern (against Green Island) and Roslyn (University) will also put their unbeaten starts on the line, while Queens Park make the trip to Queenstown and Northern Hearts play the Royals.

Queen’s Park notched up their first win of the women’s South Island qualifying league last week.

The Invercargill side joined the southern competition this year and beat Northern 5-0 last weekend.

They will have a big battle tomorrow against University, who also had a 5-0 win, over Green Island.

Northern also face Roslyn.
