Racing: Memories . . .

If I was to summarise the 2014-15 season, ''normal'' wouldn't even enter the conversation.

It had moments many of us would want to forget in a hurry, and a few that will never leave us.

Anyway, next Thursday, we'll have a summary of the last 12 months in Otago racing.

On top of that, there will be a video on www.odt.co.nz next week with the top three moments in Otago racing from the season.

Look out for the video on Tuesday or Wednesday.

are made . . .

If you have any memorable moments that you would like to share from last year (let's keep it to the racecourse, and not what might have happened in Wobbly's after the last), drop me an email on the address at the bottom of the column.

. . . of this

Speaking of next season, I'm looking to tweak a couple of elements, particularly surrounding the Tips from the Talent segment we run with local meeting previews, and also the Lazy Fiver.

''Again?'', I hear you say?

Yes, but hopefully you are the ones to benefit this time.

The boys do battle

While the trainers' premiership and drivers' premiership are both well and truly decided in the harness racing code, the fight between Stevie Golding (40 wins) and Robbie Close (38) for the junior drivers premiership continues at Addington tonight.

The two go head to head in the second Breeders Crown heat, with Robbie driving Derringer and Stevie taking the reins behind I Will Rock You.

If Stevie can collect the win in that, you would suspect a three-win deficit might just be too much for Robbie to haul in - although as a dual junior drivers champs winner this season, he could still surprise.

Robbie has 11 drives between Addington and Rangiora, while Stevie has 10.

Just three domestic meetings are left after this weekend before the end of the season, and the pair can only drive at a maximum of two of them, as Alexandra Park and Addington are run simultaneously next Friday.

Lazy Fiver

Another second placing.

I might as well get myself measured up for a fashionable yet slightly ugly dress if I'm going to continue this bridesmaid-style performance.

Tetrick in race 8 at Addington tonight is back to the maiden grade, so should be nicely race-fit for tonight's assignment.
