Rugby: National First XV wrap

St Andrew's College held onto the Moascar Cup with a thrilling 10-10 win over Marlborough College today.

STAC made played the game with little ball and were forced to defend for 18 phases on fulltime, before forcing Marlborough College to lose the ball close to the line.

The draw sees STAC hold onto the cup, which acts as the Ranfurly Shield of First XV rugby.

In other games in the Crusaders region, St Bede's College ran out 28-8 winners over Rangiora High School, Christ's College beat Roncalli College 36-0, while Shirley Boys' High School were 19-5 winners over Burnside High School. Christchurch Boys' High School thumped Lincoln High School 86-0, St Thomas College beat Ashburton College 31-10 and Nelson College's local derby with Waimea Combined was deferred.

Further north Mount Albert Grammar School handed Auckland Grammar's School the worst loss of all time, with a 50-0 scoreline.

St Peter's College upset St Kentigern College 9-7 a week after knocking off King's College, while Aorere College won a close encounter with Dilworth Academy by 5-3.

King's College got back on track with a 83-0 win over Onehunga High School, while De La Salle College won 39-0 over Otahuhu College.

Across the harbour bridge, Westlake Boys' HighSchool were dominant 74-0 winners over Whangerei Boys' High School, Rosmini College beat Rangitoto College 40-17 and Massey High School beat Takapuna High School 35-0.

In Wellington St Patrick's (Town) edged Scots College 24-21 in the game of the round there, while Wellington College and St Patrick's Silverstream claimed 22-0 and 38-3 wins respectively. Rongotai College beat St Bernard's High School 69-5.

In the Chiefs region Hamilton Boys' High School won 19-6 against St Paul's Collegiate, Rotorua Boys' High School beat Wesley College 29-18 and St John's were 30-6 victors over Manurewa High School.
