Te Pae Christchurch claims major award

Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre has been named Oceania’s leading meetings and conference centre at the World Travel Awards.

The awards were established in 1993 to celebrate excellence across all sectors of the international travel and tourism industry.

Te Pae won the award after the travel industry, media and the public voted for it, beating out landmark convention centres, including the International Convention Centre Sydney, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Cairns Convention Centre and Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Te Pae general manager Ross Steele said the team was honoured to receive this prestigious award.

"To have our venue acknowledged on the world stage is a moment of immense pride and a true testament to the dedication, passion, and excellence our team has poured into every event since we opened our doors just three and a half years ago.

"It truly is extraordinary to be held in such esteemed company. The work of the other finalists in our category has inspired and influenced us, and we’re extremely proud to stand alongside them.

"This recognition is not just for us - it’s for Christchurch, New Zealand. Our venue was born from a bold vision of regeneration, proudly Crown-owned and built to breathe new life into this remarkable city.

"Today, that vision stands tall, not only as a beacon of architectural and operational excellence, but as a thriving hub for world-class experiences.

"I would also like to pay tribute to our team. Their dedication, tireless commitment and relentless pursuit of excellence made this global recognition possible."
