A wanted man was tracked through a forestry block by dogs after he fled police on Monday.
The 32-year-old man was wanted for an incident earlier in the day when police located him at the Z petrol station in Mosgiel, Dunedin, at 11am, Sergeant Matt Lee said.
Once the man was told he was under arrest, he took off in his car at speed and fled.
Multiple road spike locations were set up and his vehicle was spiked in Henley-Berwick Rd a short time later.
The man then ran from his car and disappeared into a nearby forestry block, Sgt Lee said.
The dog squad were called in who quickly located the man.
The man was taken to Dunedin Hospital for treatment of a dog bite.
He was arrested, charged with injures with intent to injure, assault with intent to injure, performing a threatening act, wilful damage, possession of cannabis, possession of methamphetamine utensils, escapes police custody, failed to remain stopped for an enforcement officer and operating a vehicle recklessly.
Bail was opposed and he would appear in Dunedin District Court today.
