Pedestrian dies near Lake Ellesmere

A pedestrian has died following an incident involving a vehicle at a property in Canterbury, police have confirmed.

Senior Sergeant Craig Ellison said the person died at a private property in Pohau Rd, near Lake Ellesmere-Te Waihora, southeast of Christchurch.

Emergency services were alerted about 8.30am today.

Ellison said police would have an increased presence in the area as staff worked at the scene.
