SH6 routes open again after slip

State Highway 6 and the upper Buller Gorge Rd, straddling the West Coast and Tasman regions, has reopened following a big slip.

The road had been cut off near the Eight Mile Creek Bridge where large trees fell. 

The section of SH6, between the intersection with highways 65 and 69, had been shut since early this morning.

The slip follows recent heavy rain on the West Coast.

However, the NZ Transport Agency said some delays should be expected while further clearing work was completed during the day.
