Passchendaele Day commemorations are returning to Rangiora.

The Rangiora RSA will host the North Canterbury commemorations for the first time since 2015, at the Rangiora Cenotaph on Saturday, October 12, from 11am.

President Ian Thompson says David Ayers will ''give a tribute'' in what is likely to be his last official act as Waimakariri mayor.

Kaiapoi RSA president Neill Price will also speak, while Salvation Army band major Bill Peck will offer a prayer and play The Last Post and Reveille.

Waimakariri MP Matt Doocey will also be in attendance, while Rangiora's 88 Squadron Air Cadets will be on duty and will raise the New Zealand and Belgium flags during the playing of the two national anthems.

The annual remembrance service has been hosted by the Kaiapoi RSA for the last three years while its Rangiora counterpart completed its rebuild.

Mr Thompson says it is a busy time for the Rangiora RSA, with its centennial celebrations being planned in November.

A special event is also planned on October 31, during which Defence and Veterans Affairs Minister Ron Mark will be presented with a life membership of the Rangiora RSA.

''I will be at the Royal New Zealand RSA national conference in Wellington from October 30 to 31, so I will bring him back to Rangiora,'' Mr Thompson says.

''He's been a very good member. I can remember him coming to the Rangiora RSA when he was still in uniform.''
