Tough challenge for Links to beat Saints

Chisholm Links v St Clair

The competition-leading Saints head to the beach to face a Chisholm Links side that will be searching for their first points at home after being stung late by Island Park in a frustrating play-off — but once again the Saints look incredible hard to beat her.

The home side welcomes back John McIntee for Luke Worthington while the Saints have made two changes with Tony Giles and Logan Clarke in for his first game as a Saint.

The Links will need to improve on last weeks effort — any wind should help level the sides but until we see Saints players begin to drop games you can’t go past them here.

Taieri Lakes v Otago B52s

An interesting match up here on the Taieri. By now it’s clear to see some of the senior Taieri players are taking a back seat this year but the home side look a chance against the B52s who are missing Will McLauchlan.

Matt Mercer is Taieri’s sole change coming in for Blair Bennett while George Prendergast Mat Weir and Howard Maxwell slot in for the B52s.

The B52s will be searching for an outright win here and may do so, however the match-ups suggest have a 3-3 look about them if Taieri’s most experienced can step up. B52s to win by a game.

Otago Bombers v Island Park

This is a key game for both sides but for opposite reasons. The Bombers are potentially facing an 0-3 start – all at Balmacewen, while Island Park could potentially start 3-0 having only played one at home.

Both sides have changes — Callum Judkins and Luke Murdoch (Bombers) while dual Balmacewen/Island Park member Monty Wong (Island Park) plays his first game of the year after a dose of Covid which forced him to withdraw from last week’s side.

History suggests Bombers should register their first win of the season today with Island Park only recording one win since 2015 and that was a strong side v a weakened Bombers side in 2020. Unfortunately for the Park this looks the Bombers’ best side on paper.
