Isaac Construction has been appointed to carry out major road and water upgrades between Wrights and Curletts Road on behalf of Christchurch City Council.
- Two information sessions (business operators at 5pm and residents at 7pm) will be held on Tuesday, June 2, at St MJ’s Anglican Church (50 Lincoln Rd) for people to learn more about the project.
“We’re inviting people to come along, meet the team delivering the work, and get an outline of the way forward for Lincoln Road. It’s also an opportunity to ask any questions before work gets started,” said council general manager of city infrastructure Brent Smith.
He said the investigations will take place along Lincoln Rd, between Wrights and Curletts Rds, from Monday, June 8, with construction starting in mid-June.
The project is expected to wrap up in mid-2027 and will deliver new peak hour bus lanes and upgraded water and wastewater services.
It will also involve undergrounding powerlines, upgrading streetlights and installing new fibre connections.
"We’re coordinating works to reduce the overall impact on the community while we deliver these important upgrades. Lincoln Road is a key route for commuters and businesses," Smith said.
"The project will improve safety, make public transport more reliable, and ensure water and wastewater services meet the needs of the growing community."
The installation of peak hour bus lanes is part of the Passenger Transport Improvements project, which will eventually provide peak-time bus lanes from Halswell to the central city.
