A man has been charged after a pedestrian was injured in an alleged hit-and-run in central Christchurch.
Emergency services were called to Kilmore St about 1am on Saturday after the pedestrian was hit by a car.
Police said the driver fled the scene after the collision.
The pedestrian was taken to hospital with critical injuries. They are now in a stable condition.
The alleged driver was taken into custody at a Merivale address after contacting police. A vehicle was also impounded.
Police said a 45-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving causing injury, failing to stop/ascertain injury, possession of cocaine, and possession of methamphetamine.
He was remanded in custody to appear in the Christchurch District Court.
