Tuesday was all about sun, fun and fine weather as bubbles of people hit their nearest beach for some socially distanced exercise and relaxation.

Christchurch city hit a high of 20 deg C by 1pm today, while Kaikōura was the warmest spot in the country on 21 deg C.

A MetService spokesman said it is a beautiful day in Canterbury today, with just enough high cloud thrown in the mix to make them think of rainbow ice cream.
