Otago Museum communicator leaves with a bang

After 20 years of hard work, dedication and - most importantly - fun, Otago Museum has said goodbye to a much-loved employee.

A large crowd turned out to bid Amadeo Enriquez Ballestero farewell at the Museum Reserve as he helped his colleagues set off one last gigantic explosion - all in the name of science education.

The popular science communicator has reluctantly resigned from what he calls his "dream job" to be closer to his partner, who is a lecturer and researcher at the University of Canterbury College of Education in Christchurch.

Mr Enriquez Ballestero will be teaching in a newly-constructed science lab at Breens Intermediate School in Bishopdale.
