The Woolston Community Library will be the first stop of ‘The Repair Roadshow’ on Saturday from 2pm.
The roadshow a year-long project to help community hubs around the city set up their own repair event.
Ōtautahi Repair Revolution founder Zac Imhoof said the idea was prompted after a conversation with Michael Reynolds, a Woolston resident who is behind the community space Roimata Food Commons in Radley Park.
Said Imhoof: “This event will be the first and hopefully we can gather enough volunteers from the area that would like to maintain it.”
Imhoof said volunteers have fixed many things, including toys and electronic gadgets.
He still remembers the time he received a $10 donation after fixing a ukelele for a five-year-old girl at a repair cafe.
“There was a big smile on her face. So it was something very special to myself and other volunteers who have had situations like that all the time,” he said.
