Lockdown lifted at Christchurch school

Police have lifted a lockdown at a school in the Christchurch suburb of Woolston after an incident earlier today.

Gould Crescent was cordoned off and Bamford School was placed in lockdown about 3pm.

Parents picking their children up were made to wait outside the cordon.

A police spokeswoman said there was a large police presence at the address, including the Armed Offenders Squad.

Newshub reported just before 5pm the lockdown had been lifted.
