Paraglider killed in Canterbury crash named

Police have named the woman who died following a paraglider crash in Canterbury on Tuesday.

She was 37-year-old Trudi Meij, a South African national living in Christchurch.

Police were alerted to the accident near Mt Cheeseman ski area at Castle Hill around 1.45pm, a statement said.

Ms Meij died at the scene.

Police are investigating and said the Civil Aviation Authority had been notified.

The death has been referred to the coroner.
