Christchurch and Banks Peninsula residents can go online now to see if their property value has gone up or down in the latest valuations.

The new valuations have been done by Quotable Value. They were determined using market sales across the region in August.

On average, residential property values across Christchurch and Banks Peninsula have risen about one per cent since the last revaluation in 2016, said Christchurch City Council head of financial management Diane Brandish.

“Overall, there has tended to be a slight increase in values for residential properties at the lower end of the market, while some properties at the higher end may see a slight decrease.

“During the first week of December we will be mailing out letters informing people of their new property valuations.

“New work such as renovations and kitchens that don’t require a building consent may not be included in the new values.

"If you feel your property’s new rating value doesn’t reflect your property’s market value, you have the right to object,’’ Ms Brandish said.
