Sumner house fire started in bathroom

A house has been damaged after a small bathroom fire made its way into the roof.

Fire and Emergency spokeswoman Lyn Crosson said two crews from Sumner and Woolston stations were called to the property at St Leonards Square in Sumner at about 10.35am on Wednesday.

On arrival, more help was requested and three more crews from Anzac, Lyttelton and Spreydon stations attended.

Ms Crosson said a fire investigator is at the scene, however, the cause of the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
