Road reopens after fatal North Canterbury crash

    One person has died after a serious crash on Omihi Road in Hurunui.

    Emergency services were notified of the single vehicle collision at 5:24am on Thursday.

    "Motorists are asked to avoid the area," a police spokesperson said.

    An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

    Omihi Rd reopened about 11am following the serious crash.

    "Police would like to thank motorists for their patience."
