Motorist injured after crashing into fence

A motorist has been moderately injured after hitting and destroying a fence and two wheelie bins in Christchurch this morning.

St John New Zealand spokesman Gerard Campbell said the crash happened about 12.30am on Friday on Springs Rd in Hornby.

An ambulance transported one patient to Christchurch Hospital with moderate injuries, he said.

A post about the incident on the Hornby - Greater Hornby Residents Association Inc Facebook page read: "Car vs fence in Springs Road this morning.

"Hope everyone [is] ok and [I] feel for residents getting an early morning wake up call like that," the post read.
