Unsettled weather has been forecast for much of Canterbury over the first weekend in lockdown.

A high of 15 deg C is expected in Christchurch on Saturday with fine spells and a chance of afternoon showers, dropping to a low of 8 deg C overnight.

Then don't feel too bad about staying indoors on Sunday as it's expected to be a wet one for the city, with a few showers, south-west winds, a high of 15 deg C and a low of 9 deg C.

The same can be said for North Canterbury on Saturday with a high of 14 deg C and a low of 8 deg C. You can also expect afternoon showers and cold south-westerlies.

On Sunday, more showers are expected in North Canterbury, with light wind and a high of 13 deg C and a low of 9 deg C overnight.

However, Mid Canterbury should avoid any rain over the next two days. Fine spells and south-westerlies are expected to develop in the afternoon on Saturday with a high of 14 deg C, then dropping to a low of 7 deg C.

Expect similar weather on Sunday in Mid Canterbury, with fine spells and south-westerlies, a high of 14 deg dropping to 7 deg C overnight.
