Man missing after planned walkway trip

Christchurch police are appealing for sightings of a man missing after a planned trip to a North Canterbury walkway.

Police say Fergus Stephen from the West Coast was dropped off at the Lewis Pass car park entrance to the St James walkway on September 27, where he intended to walk for the next 10 days.

The 24-year-old's family alerted police on Thursday, October 10, after he failed to turn up after more than 10 days.

Mr Stephen is 182cm (6 feet)  tall and of slim build.

He was last seen wearing a dark brown full-length oilskin Paka sweater, green fleece pants and a dark brown and green beanie.
