A person has died after their vehicle crashed east of Methven in Canterbury.
Officers responded following a report that a car had crashed into a tree at the intersection of Back Track and Woods Rd about 6.15am today.
The single occupant of the car died at the scene, police said.
The Serious Crash Unit attended the scene, and an investigation into the circumstances of the crash was under way.
