The lake and adjoining lakehouse on the farm will provide the base for the December 15 event, which organiser John Newsom says will incorporate something to suit all athletes.
''As well as our long-course triathlon/duathlon/aquabike (swim/bike) we have a Mini OxMan, a Junior OxMan for 10-16-year-olds, and run-only options over 21km and 7km distances,'' he says.
All events can be done as a team or an individual.
Geoff and a small group of friends, including farmers, an agricultural services worker and a vet, plan to compete as a team, with Monday-night training sessions leading up to the event. Their main aim is to get some exercise and have some fun.
They plan to use pies from Oxford's Main Street Bakery and Cafe - the Oxford branch of Sheffield's Famous Pies - as their training fuel for the big race and are hoping others will also support the event.
''I am keen to encourage local people, particularly the farming community, to enter as either teams or individuals,'' Geoff says. ''There are shorter races so there is something to suit everyone.''
Although the 500-metre long, 120-metre wide lake was built primarily for farm irrigation, it was also designed with recreation in mind for the Spark family, but they are keen for it to be used by the public.
Geoff is mindful of the challenges facing the farming industry and sees exercise and recreation as good for health and wellbeing.
The lake and adjoining lake house are available for hire and the lake is suitable for all water sports, including swimming, jet boating and kayaking. People wanting to join Geoff's OxMan team can contact him on: (021) 2293546.
