The company had a big three-day celebration this month to showcase what it offered and to welcome everybody and anybody. You do not have to be a shareholder.
Demonstrations, meet-and-greets and giveaways drew a great turnout from the community.
Farmlands chief executive officer Tanya Houghton was on site working alongside Ashburton business manager Kane Chambers, regional manager Emma Hinton and a bustling crew.
The store has a larger retail floor than Farmlands’ former site, to give customers a better shopping experience as well as designated technical expertise, FeedBarn and community spaces.
It aimed to be the go-to for everyone connected to the land, Ms Houghton said.
It will also be a trial store, where ideas will be put into action, and if successful rolled out to other branches.
The Farmlands store, which sits next to Smith's City on West Street, is three times the size of Farmlands’ former store.
It is open seven days a week with a range of apparel, household and gardening goods, feed, supplements and products for all types of animals across all the farm industries.
As well as a drive-in loading dock for large purchases, and separate access and a meeting space for shareholders, there is also a tap-and-go payment pet wash area at the front of the building.
