Farm and stud co-owner Elliot Brock, of Merino Downs, near Gore, was pleased with the price the two hinds received during their first Bidr sale last Tuesday night.
"That is the most we have got for hinds during our winter sale.
"It was also the first time we have used Bidr and it was quite successful."
There were 50 lots on offer, six of which were rising 1-year-old weaner stags.
Their prices ranged from $2050 to $3500, which he was also pleased with.
Of the hinds, only three lots remained unsold, with six sold since the auction.
"I am not sure how many buyers were registered, maybe 25 to 30."
He thought the average price for the hinds was about $2600.
When Southern Rural Life talked to him the day after the sale, he had yet to hear who had bought the two hinds.
They had not needed to prepare a catalogue as the animals were sold off their pedigree and body weights.
"They will probably be used for embryo transfers."
"We usually do an embryo transfer programme ourselves but with Covid-19 this year, we missed out on that.
"Hopefully we will have one or two in our next offering."
The Brock family had a national record for the highest price received for a velvet stag sold at an on-farm auction in January.
The stag, which was sold was sold for $102,000 shared the same grandmother as the $7500 hind.
The $7200 hind shared the same mother as one of the Brock’s stag, which sold for $30,000.
They farm a 560ha property, their main focus being and velvet production.
They run 1800 stags, about 800 hinds and 800 weaners as well as 120 beef cattle and they also graze hoggets.
