Southern Rural Life reporter Shawn McAvinue has been acknowledged in the Community Newspaper Awards.
Mr McAvinue received special mention in the best senior news journalist category; the judges commented that he had "an obvious passion for all things rural and obviously knowing that there is a great yarn through every farm gate".
"His work on human interest stories, alongside significant agricultural developments, shows he has a great understanding of the rural world. His stories are easy to read and understand," they said.
His snappy headline "Cattle Chattel Battle" was also runner-up for best headline.
