Southern competitors took home most of the top prizes at the South Island Sheep Dog Trial Championships.
The Southland Centre hosted the championships at the grounds of the Mararoa Sheep Dog Trial Club.
Club president Andy Dennis, of Manapouri, said about 240 triallists competed in Western Southland for five days, ending on May 8.
Each hunt course had 250 runs and each head course had 220 runs.
"Congratulations to all the winners and the placegetters — I hope everyone had a good week and got home safe."
Mckenzie Smith and dog Chub, of the Heriot Collie Club, won the zigzag hunt.
Brian Dickison and dog Jake, of the Greenvale Sheep Dog Trial Club, won the short head and yard.
Scott Hunter and dog Lucy, of the Omarama Collie Dog Club, won the long head.
Hamish Parkinson and dog Grit, of the Kaitieke Collie Club in the King Country, won the straight hunt.
Mr Dennis thanked everyone who helped make the event happen including Davaar Station and Burwood Station.
The sheep from both properties performed well during the competition.
"It was nice to be able to showcase Fiordland because a lot of the North Islanders had never been to this corner of Southland."
