Bull fetches top price of $12,000

Hereford bull Waikaka Tower sold for the top price of $12,000 at the 48th annual Waikaka Genetics bull sale in Eastern Southland last week.

The bull was bought by The Carol in South Otago.

Of the 20 bulls on offer, 15 sold for an average of $6150.

Waikaka Genetics co-owner Ross Paterson said the sale had a great turnout and produced a great result on a cold and wet day in Southland.

"It was great to see returning buyers and some new faces this year and it was brilliant to be able to have a good catch-up with everyone without the restrictions of the past few years."
