Opening for trading last week, the larger store officially opens today at a purpose-built site in William St following the move from Queen St.
The cost was undisclosed by the co-op, which has a network of 65 retail and support stores that operated nationwide under its subsidiary Farm Source.
Fonterra Farm Source group director Anne Douglas said the upgraded space had been developed for farmers and other customers.
Fonterra said the new store location reflected its long-term investment in Waimate, where dairy farming was a cornerstone of local life.
