Palmerston sisters Nicky Oliver and Lynn Leng have been busy organising Garden Markets, a fundraiser for the local St John which will be held Mrs Leng’s garden from 10am on September 16.
St John was an important organisation close to their hearts.
"We have all needed St John at one point or another. They are a huge asset to this area so it’s great to support them in any way we can," Mrs Oliver said.
The duo has secured more than 40 stallholders and food vendors and live music will play during lunchtime.
"Last year Lynn hosted a garden tour which was a fundraiser for St John, and we decided this year to do a market day, something a bit different where people could come and enjoy shopping trade stalls in the lovely garden," Mrs Oliver said.
Mrs Leng has spent more than 25 years establishing her large garden setting and she enjoys sharing her little slice of paradise with others.
"Kids will enjoy it, too. There will be llamas and alpacas to pat," Mrs Oliver said.
Daughter Anna Oliver has been a huge help marketing the event.
"Having a daughter proficient in graphic design and online marketing has been a big help. She has been profiling each of the stallholders on the event’s Facebook page which has really helped create a lot of interest."
Ticket sales for the market day had been steady with more than 100 already sold.
"We really want to sell as many tickets ahead of time as we can so our food vendors will have a good idea of how many to cater for, it can be very hard to predict for an outdoor event like this," Mrs Oliver said.
Tickets can be bought through the event’s Facebook page ‘Garden Markets’.
