It was a jam-packed day of rodeo fun as more than 300 people turned out for the Mataura Rodeo on Saturday.

Riding bareback was Sam Church, of Palmerston, who competed along with three others in the open bareback section.

Mataura rodeo secretary and treasurer Alyce Perkins said it was an amazing turnout.

‘‘It is awesome to see people and families enjoying themselves and it is the perfect weather for it all.’’

Other events featured on the day included bull riding, saddle bronc, rope and tie, team roping and barrel racing.
