The deconsecrated Glenkenich Presbyterian Church building, which lies at the front of a dairy farm in Crossans Corner, sold for removal last month.
Farm and former building co-owner Dianne Erickson said the church buyer lives in the area.
"I'm stoked that it is staying local."
When she and her husband Brian Erickson bought the dairy farm in the early 1990s, it was running sheep and beef.
At that time, Presbyterian Church owned the church and grounds.
It was used for Sunday school and weddings.
About the time they converted to dairy, Mrs Erickson used the deconsecrated church to run her furniture retail business Glenkenich Manner.
The business had since closed and the Ericksons now live on the Kapiti Coast.
Mrs Erickson said the church building would be moved by March next year.
A community event to farewell the church would be held later this year.
