It was a bit of a scramble yesterday for Wanaka A&P Show exhibitors to erect their tents before heavy rain hit late in the afternoon.

About 5mm lashed the town just after 6pm, but disappeared quickly.

A coal-fired 1907 Garrett steam truck rolled through the main street on its way to the show.

It belongs to David Clark, of Edendale, and is one of three steam-powered vehicles on display.

People should not be discouraged by yesterday's wet weather as the forecast today is for cool, fine conditions with light winds.

Tomorrow is expected to be a balmy 23degC, with light cloud.
