A 47-year-old man was arrested after pretending to shoot staff and customers at a Dunedin cafe with his fingers.

The man had left the Union St cafe when police were called at 12.25pm yesterday.

Staff alleged the man was pointing his fingers like a gun and mimicking shooting people inside the cafe.

Customers described feeling “intimidated and threatened”.

He was located and arrested on Cumberland St and is “well known to police”, Sgt Matt Lee said.

The man had been charged with behave threateningly.

He had made bail and is set to appear in court at a later date.
