Several people injured in single-car crash

Five people were injured - two seriously - in a single-car crash in Canterbury last night.

A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman said emergency services were called to the crash on The Lake Rd between Selwyn Lake Rd and Pannetts Rd in Leeston about 11.05pm.

St John spokesman Gerard Campbell said of the five people in the crash, two were injured seriously, one moderately and two sustained minor injuries.

St John sent four ambulances and a rescue helicopter to the scene and the five patients to were all taken to Christchurch Hospital.

No one had to be cut from the vehicle.

Meanwhile, one person was moderately injured in a crash on Prestons Road about 8am this morning.
