Negative test results at village

Results of Covid-19 tests on four staff and three residents at a Wanaka retirement village have come back negative.

Aspiring Lifestyle Retirement Village managing director Aaron Armstrong said the tests were conducted after another staff member had a positive result for Covid-19 on the afternoon of March 27.

The staff member left the village at lunchtime on March 25 in preparation for the nationwide lockdown and did not return.

Mr Armstrong said "all staff who had any contact with the affected staff member also remain at their own homes in lockdown and have not returned to the village".

The residents were in lockdown in their homes within the village, all community facilities within the village remained closed and the front gate was closed and manned by security, he said.
