More schools for Kelly's Canter

More schools have been invited to compete in Kelly's Canter this year. Usually pupils from East Otago High, Palmerston Primary, Flag Swamp and Waikouaiti Schools compete with a large number of adults in the long-standing event.

This year it is hoped pupils from all East Otago primary schools, including Hampden, Macraes-Moonlight, Karitane, Warrington, Waitati and Purakaunui Schools, will be able to take part in the event, business supporter Jim Moffat of Good Keen Kiwi Books in Palmerston said recently.

It was also hoped the police, the Defence Force and Palmerston St John volunteers would enter teams.

Kelly's Canter is a run or walk up the 393m Puketapu hill organised by the Palmerston Lions and will be held on Sunday, October 20.
